The sustainability initiative and development of room2 hometels came into fruition following Stuart and his brother Robert’s family holiday to South Africa a number of years ago. Stuart personally experienced the effects climate change was having on nature, people and communities and started exploring how their business could make a positive impact on the environment and limit the effects of climate change. Hoping to inspire and urge other hoteliers to follow this approach, Stuart and Robert created and published a detailed roadmap on their aim to achieve a Net Zero status by 2023.
This belief that the hospitality industry needs to take charge led to the world’s first net zero hometel, room2 Chiswick. Sustainability has been included throughout room2 hometels to enhance and protect the environment, with no compromises on quality or comfort. Moreover, the hometel is also predicted to use 89% less energy than a typical UK hotel.
room2 hometels currently operate three properties as of 2023, with five in the pipeline, including its newest property room2 Belfast which will open in October 2023 and follows WELL Building Standards.
